Little Picasso Art Classes

I've been teaching art lessons at the local YMCA since last fall and wanted to share with you Winter Session I project. I call this "Pop Goes the Masters" project in which students selected a painting from a master artist then gave it Pop Art qualities with bright colors, basic shapes and patterns. We studied famous painters like Frida Khalo, Picasso, Van Gogh, & Vermeer. Students learned how to create grids for drawing large scale portraits, discussed color theory, and how to use patterns to make designs. My students really enjoyed this project & I hope you do too!
